Privacy and data

What our crawler reads, what we store from chats, how long we keep it and how to delete it.

This is a summary. The full text is in our privacy policy.

What our crawler reads

We read only public pages, the same ones anyone can open. Our crawler identifies itself as ChattishBot/1.0 (+https://chatti.sh/bot) and:

  • obeys your robots.txt, including Crawl-delay;
  • skips pages marked noindex, whether in a robots meta tag, a chattishbot meta tag or an X-Robots-Tag header;
  • waits between requests so it doesn't strain your server.

To keep a page out of Chattish, mark it noindex or block it for ChattishBot in robots.txt. Verified sites are re-checked every night, and pages that disappear or become noindex are removed from answers.

What we store from chats

For each conversation we store the questions, the answers, the links shown and clicked, thumbs up or down, the page it happened on, the browser type and the visitor's country. Visitors get a random id kept in their browser. We don't store visitor IP addresses with conversations; they're used for a short time to stop abuse.

You can read conversations in your dashboard under Conversations. We don't sell your content or your visitors' chats.

Who processes data

We use Cloudflare (hosting and storage), OpenRouter (the AI models that write answers) and Stripe (payments).

Deleting data

  • A site: in the site's Settings, click Delete site…, type the site's name and confirm. Its pages, map, conversations and content gaps are deleted.
  • Your account: email hello@chatti.sh.

Backups expire within 30 days.
