What a content gap is
When Wilma can't find a good page for a question, we keep it. Questions that mean the same thing are grouped, so "where do I park?" and "is there parking?" count as one gap asked two ways.
Open your site and go to Content gaps to see them, under What visitors couldn't find, ranked by how often they were asked.
Reading the list
| Column | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Visitors asked | The question, and how many different ways it was asked. |
| Times | How often it came up. |
| Your site has | What we found: No page, Only in a document, Outdated page, or Partly covered. |
| Closest pages | The pages that came nearest to answering. |
Gaps are sorted into Open, Drafted, Resolved and Ignored. When a later crawl finds a page that answers a gap, we mark it resolved for you. If visitors keep asking, it reopens.
Draft the missing page
Click Draft a page (or Draft an update when a page partly covers it). We write a draft from the questions visitors actually asked and what your site already says.
- Links in the draft point only to your existing pages, listed under "Based on these pages".
- Facts we can't confirm from your site, such as prices or times, are marked as yellow
[[confirm: …]]chips for you to fill in. Nothing is made up. - Click Copy markdown to paste it into your website editor.
Publish the page on your site, and the next crawl picks it up and resolves the gap.
Only site owners and admins can draft pages or change a gap's status.
The report email
Owners and admins get a short report by email: how many conversations there were, how many were answered with a link, and the top questions your site can't answer yet. How often depends on your plan:
| Plan | Report | Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Free | No report email. Content gaps are always in your dashboard. | |
| Starter | Monthly, on the first Monday of each month | The last 30 days |
| Growth and Agency | Weekly, every Monday | The last 7 days |
A site only gets a report when it had conversations in that period. Each person can turn it off under Notifications.
